Basketball Recap: Bakersfield Find Success

Bakersfield won the last time they faced Gainesville and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bakersfield Lions escaped with a win against the Gainesville Bulldogs by the margin of a single free throw, 37-36. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 427th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bakersfield has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Gainesville, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Bakersfield Lions take on the Niangua Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Gainesville has already played their next contest (against Dora), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
