McKinley Tech gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Coolidge Colts. The victory continues a trend for the Trainers in their matchups with the Colts: they've now won five in a row.

McKinley Tech got a massive performance out of Cole Smith, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those two runs gave Smith a new career-high. Coby Diediker was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Coolidge's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

McKinley Tech didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-3 win against Cardozo on the 24th. As for Coolidge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 19-1 loss against Jackson-Reed on the 24th.
