Columbus hadn't done well against Grand Island recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Discoverers walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Islanders. This was a revenge game for the Discoverers: when they faced off against the Islanders back in September, they had to take a 2-0 loss.

Columbus never let Grand Island on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-22.

Columbus' offense was headlined by Paighton Erb and Ashlyn Kay, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Avery Bloebaum and her 15 assists. Kay was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Columbus has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-13 record this season. As for Grand Island, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Columbus is set to square off against their familiar foe Lincoln Northeast on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Grand Island will challenge rival Millard West on Thursday.
