Basketball Recap: New Life Christian Starts Season with Defeat at Home

New Life Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 69-47 to the Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis Crusaders on Thursday. New Life Christian's defeat continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row dating back to last season.

It was another big night for Ricardo Jones, who went 17 of 38 on his way to 35 points and eight steals for Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least a third of Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Hardy, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 24 rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Life Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Crosspoint Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 31, 2025. Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis also won't see the court for a while: their next match is against Heritage Classical Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
