Preview: O'Neill Eagles vs. Ord Chanticleers
After four games on the road, O'Neill is heading back home. They and the Ord Chanticleers will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. O'Neill will be strutting in after a win while Ord will be coming in after a defeat.
You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely O'Neill's strategy against Plainview on Tuesday. O'Neill enjoyed a cozy 50-36 win over Plainview.
O'Neill got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hannah Hilker out in front who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Hilker is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 20 or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Young, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Ord's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 71-48 walloping at the hands of Broken Bow. Ord was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-22.
O'Neill's win bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Ord, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
Things could have been worse for O'Neill, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-45 loss to Ord when the teams last played back in February of 2023.
