Football Game Preview: Hilltop Lancers vs. Bonita Vista Barons + How To Watch

Hilltop is 1-6 against Bonita Vista since September of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lancers will welcome the Barons at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Hilltop against Southwest SD as the team secured a 42-14 win. Considering the Lancers have won three contests by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Lajuan Johnson was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 138 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 51 yards and two TDs. Another rusher making a difference was Leo Mendoza, who rushed for 94 yards and one score on only nine carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hilltop was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 229 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Hilltop didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Damian Moreno and Victor Ruiz. Moreno got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bonita Vista). They blew past Mar Vista 55-6 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Barons sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Bonita Vista's win came from a few key players Hilltop will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kenneth Watson, who rushed for 83 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. Lucas Cortes Raulli was another key player, rushing for 47 yards and one TD.

Bonita Vista's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Hilltop, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
