Things were looking good for Carroll after they put the first run on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 18-7 to North White. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cougars have suffered since May 8, 2024.

Olivia Stankard made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Madi Isley, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Eastern got the win against Marion on Saturday by a conclusive 16-1.

Ava Roberson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Eastern got a massive performance out of Elle Winger, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Winger a new career-high. Katie Hendricks was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Eastern, their record now sits at 3-18.

Eastern's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Carroll has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Eastern, though, as they've been averaging 11.4 hits. Given Carroll's sizable advantage in that area, the Comets will need to find a way to close that gap.

Carroll came up short against Eastern in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 7-3. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
