Basketball Game Preview: Onalaska Wildcats vs. Houston Math Science & Tech Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Onalaska Wildcats challenge the Houston Math Science & Tech Tigers at 11:40 a.m. on Friday... The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Onalaska has six straight victories, Houston Math Science & Tech has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Onalaska will bounce into Friday's match after beating Big Sandy, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. Onalaska breezed by Big Sandy to the tune of 80-46 on Thursday. Onalaska has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 26 points or more this season.

Onalaska relied on the efforts of Brayden Topkins, who made all 10 shots he took for 27 points and six boards, and Devon Vienneau, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points along with six assists and six boards. The contest was Vienneau's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Roth, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Onalaska smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Houston Math Science & Tech ended up a good deal behind Cesar E. Chavez on Saturday and lost 59-43.

Onalaska's win bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Houston Math Science & Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
