Recap: St. John XXIII Lions vs. Kelly Catholic Bulldogs
The St. John XXIII Lions won the last time they faced the Kelly Catholic Bulldogs, and things went their way on Tuesday too. St. John XXIII managed a 40-34 victory over the Bulldogs.
When it comes to explaining why Kelly Catholic lost, one person who can't be blamed is Madisyn Cotten. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Cotten has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zanaya Flanagan, who scored three points along with five rebounds and two steals.
The win got St. John XXIII back to even at 8-8. As for Kelly Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. John XXIII will take on the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Woodlands Christian Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Kelly Catholic, they will be playing at home against the Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lutheran South Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
