Basketball Recap: Runge Comes Up Short

Runge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Austwell-Tivoli Redfish, falling 70-30. One positive for the Yellowjackets, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Austwell-Tivoli found their leader in freshman Mackenzi Cortez, who posted 31 points. The game was Cortez's 16th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Moreno, who had 11 points.

Runge's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Austwell-Tivoli, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.

Runge will head out to take on Prairie Lea at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Runge is facing Prairie Lea at the right time seeing as Prairie Lea is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Austwell-Tivoli, they will take on Nordheim at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Austwell-Tivoli knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Nordheim likes a good challenge.
