Softball Recap: Hazen Comes Up Short

Hazen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Heart River co-op [Belfield/South Heart] Cougars, falling 17-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bison of the 22-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Elliot Myklebust made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Alissa Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Hazen's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Heart River co-op [Belfield/South Heart], they now have a winning record of 2-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hazen is set to square off against their familiar foe Garrison at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Heart River co-op [Belfield/South Heart] will challenge rival Central McLean [Turtle Lake-Mercer/Underwood/McClusky] at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
