Softball Game Preview: Iroquois West Raiders vs. Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons

The Iroquois West Raiders will square off against the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Iroquois West is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

On Friday, Iroquois West came up short against Oakwood and fell 8-5.

Iroquois West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Neveah Medina, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. That run marked the first that Medina scored this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They came up short against Tri-Valley, falling 10-2. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Mallory Rosendahl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Iroquois West's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-4.

Iroquois West suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley when the teams last played back in March. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
