Softball Recap: Fairmont Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Fairmont lost to Blue Earth back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Cardinals blew past the Buccaneers 27-2. The game was the first time the Cardinals have beaten the Buccaneers on their field since May 10, 2018.

Brylee Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Miller was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gwyn Schultz was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Abi Sundeen was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Fairmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blue Earth only posted an OBP of .385.

Fairmont pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Blue Earth, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Fairmont is set to square off against their familiar foe St. James at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Blue Earth will take on rival Jackson County Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
