Softball Recap: Sotomayor WILDCATS vs. Harlan Hawks
Sotomayor had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 9-12 to make it six. They lost 9-0 to the Harlan Hawks. Considering the last time the WILDCATS couldn't score was back in February, the team can't take the result too hard.
Sotomayor saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was London Echavarria, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
As for Harlan, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.
On Harlan's side, the result came thanks to Mckenzie Martinez's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Martinez.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lauren Vallery, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Lilly Campos, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
As of now, neither Sotomayor nor Harlan have any future games scheduled.
