Softball Preview: East Syracuse-Minoa Spartans vs. Fulton Red Raiders
The East Syracuse-Minoa Spartans will take on the Fulton Red Raiders at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
East Syracuse-Minoa had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Cazenovia on Monday. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Lakers. The Spartans not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1, 2024.
Meanwhile, Fulton took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Jamesville-DeWitt as they made off with a 9-2 win.
Emma Spaulding was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Spaulding was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Riley Trude was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Nadia Rose, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
