Baseball Recap: Delta Snags 12th Victory in Last 14 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Delta rose to the challenge on Monday. They never let the Hamilton Heights Huskies get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. Give the Eagles' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Zane Cline was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Delta let Everrett Linn and Chase Ritchie run wild. Linn got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Ritchie got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Brady Williams was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Delta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

Delta is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hamilton Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 10-19.

Coming up, Delta will face off against Western on Saturday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Hamilton Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
