Soccer Game Preview: J.L. Mann vs. Mauldin

The J.L. Mann Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Mauldin Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Mauldin will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: J.L. Mann extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday. The Patriots never let Greenwood get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The result was nothing new for J.L. Mann, who have now won nine contests by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Greenwood with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Laney Keith (2), Angela Liu, and Emilyn Kneeland.

Meanwhile, Mauldin had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Wildcats. Given Mauldin's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Woodmont are ranked 92nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

J.L. Mann pushed their record up to 14-2-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those four matches. As for Mauldin, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.
