Softball Recap: Fort Atkinson Triumphs

While Fort Atkinson's victory against Cambridge wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blackhawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Bluejays on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Blackhawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Lauren Wessels, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Sawyer Guth was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The victory got Fort Atkinson back to even at 4-4. As for Cambridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Atkinson will host Oregon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Blackhawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cambridge, they will be playing at home against Waterloo at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bluejays' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
