Baseball Recap: Interlake Comes Up Short

Interlake extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 3-8. They came up short against the Mercer Island Islanders, falling 8-0. If the Saints were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Islanders when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Mercer Island, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

For Mercer Island's part, not much got past Chase Koehler, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Interlake off the board.

At the plate, Mercer Island let Brady Dolence and Dash Dalhberg run wild. Dolence went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Dalhberg got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave Dalhberg a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Nguyen, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

While Interlake had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
