Basketball Game Preview: Westminster Academy Lions vs. Sagemont Prep

Westminster Academy is 10-0 against Sagemont since January of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Westminster Academy Lions will take on the Sagemont Prep at 7:00 p.m. Westminster Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Sagemont likes a good challenge.

Westminster Academy is headed into the game having just posted their biggest victory since December 14, 2024 on Saturday. They took their contest with ease, bagging an 85-47 win over Victory Christian Academy.

Westminster Academy relied on the efforts of Alex Constanza, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 12 boards, and Alexander Lloyd, who went 11 of 16 on his way to 26 points and six rebounds. The match was Constanza's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dwight Gaines Jr., who posted eight points and eight assists.

Meanwhile, Sagemont and Windermere (ranked 73rd and 72nd in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile game on Saturday. The contest between Sagemont and Windermere didn't end well, with Sagemont falling 65-47. The match marked the Prep's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Westminster Academy pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.3 points per game. As for Sagemont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-5.

Everything came up roses for Westminster Academy against Sagemont in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured an 80-49 win. Will Westminster Academy repeat their success, or does Sagemont have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
