Basketball Recap: Cotulla Comes Up Short

Cotulla lost against Lytle back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Cotulla Cowboys were dealt a 96-69 loss at the hands of the Lytle Pirates. The Cowboys were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-32.

Zacharee Perez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lytle, going 14 for 27 en route to 40 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. The matchup was Perez's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Reyna, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Cotulla has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Lytle, they pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Cotulla will challenge Jourdanton at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Cotulla has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Lytle, they will take on Hondo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lytle is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 70.3 points per game this season.
