Basketball Recap: Onalaska Comes Up Short

After flying high against Warren on Saturday, Onalaska came back down to earth. The Wildcats were dealt an 88-51 loss at the hands of the Martins Mill Mustangs on Monday. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Onalaska's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devon Vienneau, who went 9-for-18 on his way to 23 points and seven rebounds. Spencer Green also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Archer Schneider had an outrageously good game for Martins Mill as he shot 68% from the field to rack up 31 points and seven boards. That's the most points Schneider has posted since back in January. Ryder Marsh was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Onalaska's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Martins Mill, the victory (which was their 21st in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0.

Onalaska wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 102-24 win against Wells on the 25th. As for Martins Mill, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-32 victory against Central Heights on the 25th.
