Football Recap: Perquimans Pirates vs. Gates County Red Barons
Perquimans never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Gates County on Friday. They managed a 40-34 victory over the Gates County Red Barons. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pirates also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Perquimans to victory, but perhaps none more so than Benjamin Brown, who rushed for 31 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 56 receiving yards. Those 31 rushing yards gave Brown a new career-high. Maddux Thach did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 91 receiving yards.
Perquimans pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Gates County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
