Baseball Recap: Western Albemarle Falls to Spotswood in First Game of Season

Western Albemarle unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spotswood Trailblazers on Tuesday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trailblazers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Western Albemarle got a good showing from Ryan Schenk, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Tyler Williams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western Albemarle will host Harrisonburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Spotswood, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Heritage at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
