Volleyball Preview: Euclid Panthers vs. Mentor Cardinals
Euclid has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. A feisty cat fight will be fought when Panthers faces off against the Mentor Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Euclid lost 3-0 to Cleveland Heights on Monday.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-20, 25-14.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Mentor sidestepped Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin for a 3-2 victory.
Mentor had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 19-25, 25-18, 25-23, 15-7.
Mentor's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Hoynes, who had 26 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Hoynes has posted in her last seven contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Ferritto, who had eight digs and two aces.
