It was a good run, but Stayton unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 7-2 to the Newport Cubs. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cubs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Stayton now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Newport, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Cubs beat Stayton by a score of 12-11 on Wednesday.
