Baseball Game Preview: King's Knights vs. South Whidbey Falcons

The King's Knights will take on the South Whidbey Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (King's has four straight victories, South Whidbey has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

King's proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by eight) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Seattle Prep, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since April 24, 2024.

King's saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Echelbarger, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Echelbarger also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, South Whidbey scored the most runs they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against Vashon Island, falling 13-4.

King's pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for South Whidbey, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

King's was able to grind out a solid victory over South Whidbey in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-2. Will King's repeat their success, or does South Whidbey has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
