Recap: Lanham Christian Lions vs. King's Christian Academy
The Lanham Christian Lions stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. Everything went their way against King's Christian Academy as Lanham Christian made off with a 88-68 victory. Given Lanham Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while King's Christian Academy is ranked 119th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lanham Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamar Payen, who scored 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Payen has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tre Ray, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.
Loss or not, King's Christian Academy got some senior leadership from Anthony Dinkins and Diallo Long. Dinkins dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds, while Long. scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Long hasn't dropped below 15 points for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Gladdon, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Lanham Christian pushed their record up to 15-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.6 points per game. As for King's Christian Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lanham Christian will take on Bethel Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for King's Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Washington Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m.
