Baseball Recap: Jasper Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Jasper barely beat McAuley Catholic the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Hunter Earl made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs.

In other batting news, Will Thompson and Treyton Ritchhart did most of the damage at the plate: Thompson scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Ritchhart scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Brady Sisseck was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Jasper pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for McAuley Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jasper will square off against Drexel at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McAuley Catholic, they will venture away from home to take on Greenwood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
