Basketball Recap: Locust Fork Takes a Loss

Locust Fork has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 82-79 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (74), the Hornets still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Locust Fork lost on Thursday, don't look at Levi White. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine rebounds. White has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Jahmad Jackson was another key player, going 8 for 10 en route to 18 points.

Even though they lost, Locust Fork smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 13 consecutive matches.

Locust Fork's loss dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Mortimer Jordan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-14.

Locust Fork wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-49 win against Douglas on the 27th. Mortimer Jordan has also already played their next contest, an 86-50 defeat against Jasper on the 24th.
