The Grant Pacers are taking a road trip to take on the Cordova Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Grant's hitters haven't had much luck over their past six matches, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Wednesday, Grant came up short against Antelope and fell 6-1.
Grant saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joel De La Cruz, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.
Cordova came out on top against Kennedy on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Lancers put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 13-3 win. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Nathan Tran made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Cordova is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 9-11-1 otherwise. Tran was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Nathaniel Jones was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chicago Bush, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Cordova always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kennedy only posted an OBP of .304.
Cordova now has a winning record of 12-11-1. As for Grant, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-19.
Grant came up short against Cordova when the teams last played back in March, falling 6-1. Can the Pacers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
