Preview: Valley Lutheran Chargers vs. Ithaca Yellowjackets
Valley Lutheran is 2-8 against the Yellowjackets since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Valley Lutheran Chargers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ithaca Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Valley Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Valley Lutheran strolled past the Lancers with points to spare, taking the game 62-45. With that victory, Valley Lutheran brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.
Elijah Wolter was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Carter Rauschert was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Ithaca came up short against the Huskies on Tuesday and fell 57-47. Ithaca has not had much luck with the Huskies recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Valley Lutheran's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6. As for Ithaca, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 7-6.
Valley Lutheran came out on top in a nail-biter against the Yellowjackets in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, sneaking past 40-38. Does Valley Lutheran have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
