Basketball Preview: Ridge View Blazers vs. Richland Northeast Cavaliers
Ridge View is 9-1 against the Cavaliers since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Ridge View Blazers will be playing at home against the Richland Northeast Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. Ridge View will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
Even though Ridge View has not done well against the Redhawks recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Ridge View walked away with a 49-39 victory over the Redhawks.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ridge View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sian Banks, who scored eight points along with six steals and five assists. Destiny Drakeford was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Richland Northeast beat the Demons 50-41 on Friday. The victory was just what Richland Northeast needed coming off of a 64-42 loss in their prior match.
Richland Northeast's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sasha Cebula led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Cebula hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Lujain Jallab, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Ridge View has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Richland Northeast, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11.
Ridge View took their victory against the Cavaliers when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 52-26. Will Ridge View repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
