Basketball Recap: Nickerson Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Nickerson duked it out with Hoisington on Friday. The Nickerson Panthers lost 61-35 to the Hoisington Cardinals. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Hoisington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Martin led the charge by putting up 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. That's the most boards Martin has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rhen Galla, who scored 16 points.

Nickerson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Hoisington, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Coming up, Nickerson will head out to face off against Hesston at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hoisington, they will face off against Hillsboro at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hillsboro will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Hoisington surely won't give up without a fight.
