Football Preview: Harleton Wildcats vs. Troup Tigers
The Harleton Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Troup Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Troup took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Harleton, who comes in off a win.
Harleton took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Queen City a 35-0 shutout. The win was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Troup had to suffer through a 56-28 loss at the hands of Edgewood.
Despite the defeat, Troup had strong showings from Brett Wells, who rushed for 284 yards and a touchdown while picking up 12.3 yards per carry, and Bryce Wallum, who rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per carry. Wells was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards.
Even though they lost, Troup was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 540 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.
The victory got Harleton back to even at 1-1. As for Troup, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 0-2.
