Softball Game Preview: Corner Yellow Jackets vs. Cordova Blue Devils

The Corner Yellow Jackets will challenge the Cordova Blue Devils at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last four games Corner has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Corner saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of Oak Mountain by a score of 4-2.

Crimson Erwin was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Cordova came up short against Oak Mountain on Friday and fell 5-1.

Cordova saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Khloe Herron, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Cordova's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Corner, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-15-1.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Corner hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Cordova struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Corner couldn't quite get it done against Cordova when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 14-9. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
