Volleyball Preview: Bernie Mules vs. Woodland Cardinals        
        
		
             The Bernie Mules will square off against the Woodland Cardinals at 5:30  p.m.  on Friday. Bernie is no doubt hoping to put an end to  a three-game streak of away losses.
 Having struggled with five  defeats in a row, Bernie finally turned things around against Poplar Bluff  on Monday. They came out on top against the Mules by a score of  3-1.
 The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 20-25, 25-23,  25-21.
 Bernie can attribute much of their success to   Kalli Mason, who  had 11  digs and three  aces, and   Tatum Anthony, who  had nine  digs. That's the most  aces  Mason has posted since back in August.
 Meanwhile, Woodland was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight  loss. They fell just short of Meadow Heights by a score of  3-2.
 Woodland couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Meadow Heights a tough time in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-31, 26-24, 16-25, 25-18,  15-9.
 Despite the  defeat, Woodland saw an underclassman step up:  Ella Cook  had 19  digs.
 The  victory  got Bernie back to even at 6-6-3. As for Woodland, they now  have a losing record at 8-9.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of  Friday's  match:  Bernie has really dialed in their serving game this season,  having  averaged 9  aces per game. However, it's not like Woodland struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 8.3. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
 Bernie might still be hurting after the  3-0 loss they got from Woodland  in their previous meeting  back in October of 2023. Can Bernie avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
