Soccer Game Preview: Rice Consolidated vs. El Campo

Rice Consolidated hasn't had much luck against El Campo recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rice Consolidated Raiders will square off against the El Campo Ricebirds at 7:15 p.m.

Rice Consolidated is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Friday, they were much more limited against Palacios on Tuesday. They fell 2-0 to the Sharks.

Meanwhile, El Campo came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Brahmas a 10-0 shutout. The Ricebirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Hallettsville from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Alexander Maya led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by himself.

El Campo's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Rice Consolidated, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.

Rice Consolidated suffered a grim 7-2 defeat to El Campo in their previous matchup back in February. Can Rice Consolidated avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
