Softball Recap: Rainier Beach Takes a Loss

Rainier Beach extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 1-12. They came up short against West Seattle, falling 19-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against West Seattle this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 27-0 back in April.

Rainier Beach saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Kabatxi, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for West Seattle, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for West Seattle, who have now won ten games by eight runs or more so far this season.

On West Seattle's side, Lucy Malloy made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Malloy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kaila Ignacio was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Herron, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

As of now, neither Rainier Beach nor West Seattle have any future games scheduled.
