Baseball Recap: Northwest's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Northwest can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They never let the Cheatham County Central Cubs get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Joshua Tharpe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Tharpe wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cross Newman, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Jayden Helfer also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Northwest's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Cheatham County Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
