Softball Game Preview: Lake Wales Highlanders vs. Eau Gallie Commodores

The Lake Wales Highlanders will challenge the Eau Gallie Commodores at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lake Wales 3.8, Eau Gallie 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lake Wales is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over Lake Region. Eight seems to be a good number for the Highlanders as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Karsyn Maddox was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyra Williams, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Eau Gallie waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Bulldogs. Considering the Commodores have won 15 games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Eau Gallie got a massive performance out of Leah 'Spike' Pechart, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Evie Martin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Eau Gallie pushed their record up to 22-6 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Lake Wales, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-9.
