Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Justin Zhang and Nicholas Kallos Lead Payton College Prep to Victory

Payton College Prep won the last time they faced Fenwick and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Grizzlies had just enough and edged out the Friars 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Grizzlies.

Payton College Prep had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-17, 25-23.

Leading Payton College Prep to victory were Nicholas Kallos and Justin Zhang. Kallos had 15 digs and two assists, while Zhang had six digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Zhang a new career-high.

Payton College Prep's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. As for Fenwick, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, Payton College Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against Taft at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fenwick, they will venture away from home to challenge Nazareth Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Friars are facing the Roadrunners at the right time seeing as the Roadrunners are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
