Softball Recap: Chowchilla Tribe vs. Fowler Redcats
Chowchilla lost against Fowler back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Chowchilla took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fowler. The Tribe have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Heaven Moore was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, she gave up only two walks, the fewest she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Rylee Vlot was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. April Miller also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Even though they lost, Chowchilla hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive games.
Chowchilla's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Fowler, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Chowchilla will host Fresno Christian on Tuesday. Fresno Christian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.67 runs per game on average), something Chowchilla will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fowler, they will head out to take on Yosemite at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
