Basketball Recap: Whitewater Comes Up Short

Whitewater was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a blow against the Sandy Creek Patriots, falling 76-4. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while the Patriots are ranked 73rd).

Sandy Creek found their leader in freshman Morghan Reckley, who almost dropped a triple-double on 27 points, nine assists, and 12 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Reckley has scored at least a third of Sandy Creek's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Reckley, who posted 13 points along with seven steals and five boards.

Whitewater's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Sandy Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Whitewater didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-20 defeat against Northgate on the 14th. As for Sandy Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 71-50 victory against Newnan on the 14th.
