Baseball Recap: Hebbronville Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hebbronville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They never let the IDEA Quest College Prep Trailblazers get on the board and left with a 21-0 victory on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Longhorns considering their one-run performance the game before.

Chase Moore was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Moore was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hebbronville got a massive performance out of Ruben Rodriguez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Rodriguez is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Derek Ramirez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.

Hebbronville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 12.8.

Hebbronville's win bumped their record up to 11-8-1. As for IDEA Quest College Prep, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Coincidentally, Hebbronville and IDEA Quest College Prep will both be playing Falfurrias the next time they take the field. The Trailblazers will host the Fightin' Jerseys at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Longhorns will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
