Mater Dei Catholic can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Eastlake as Mater Dei Catholic made off with a 36-14 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 20-0.
Mater Dei Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Jackson led the charge by rushing for 104 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Anthony McMillian Jr. and his 88 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Mater Dei Catholic's win.
Meanwhile, Otay Ranch came up short against Bonita Vista on Friday and fell 24-13. Otay Ranch has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Otay Ranch's defeat came about despite a quality game from Oluwatolani Osinfolarin, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown.
Mater Dei Catholic's victory bumped their season record to 5-3 while Otay Ranch's loss dropped theirs to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Mater Dei Catholic against Otay Ranch in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 47-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mater Dei Catholic since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
