Baseball Recap: Morningside Monarchs vs. Beverly Hills Normans

Morningside extended their losing streak to 17 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-18 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Beverly Hills Normans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Normans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-3 on Tuesday.

As for Beverly Hills, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-10-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.

For Beverly Hills' part, Asher Miller tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Miller is becoming a predictor of the Normans' success: when he posts at least ten strikeouts the team is undefeated (and 4-10-1 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Noah Gabayan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Beverly Hills is undefeated when Gabayan posts two or more runs, but 4-10-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Recupero, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Morningside will host Lennox Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Beverly Hills, they will venture away from home to challenge Inglewood at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
