After a string of seven wins, Mooresville's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. Their2024 ended with a 55-38 defeat against the Evansville North Huskies. The Pioneers were probably out for revenge after losing 56-47 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Randee Garringer, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Shafer, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 10 points.

Evansville North's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zhaeyana Cooper, who posted 16 points along with five boards and three steals. That's the most steals Cooper has posted since back in January. Evie Sale was another key player, going 6 of 11 on her way to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Mooresville's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Evansville North, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-5.

Mooresville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lowell at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Evansville North, they will have a chance to turn things around after yesterday's loss Greenfield-Central at 9:00 a.m. on Friday after yesterday's loss. Evansville North knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Greenfield-Central likes a good challenge.
