Softball Game Preview: Fullerton Indians vs. Ocean View Seahawks

The Fullerton Indians will head out to challenge the Ocean View Seahawks at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Fullerton's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Ocean View's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Fullerton was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Garden Grove on Wednesday. The Indians never let the Argonauts get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Indians this season.

Melia Vera was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Emma Thorson also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Fullerton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garden Grove only posted a batting average of .062.

Meanwhile, Ocean View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 11-0 to Kennedy.

Fullerton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.1 runs over those games. As for Ocean View, their loss dropped their record down to 2-17.

Everything went Fullerton's way against Ocean View in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, as Fullerton made off with a 12-6 victory. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Seahawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
