Basketball Recap: Heide Trask Takes a Loss

Heide Trask lost against West Brunswick last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Heide Trask Titans were beaten by the West Brunswick Trojans 64-21. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-6.

Alana Philyaw was Heide Trask's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Carley Davis held things down on the boards with five rebounds.

Jahyra Mastry continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for West Brunswick, going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc on her way to 26 points in addition to five assists and four steals. That's the most steals Mastry has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Kya Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Heide Trask is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3. As for West Brunswick, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Heide Trask wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 35-34 win against Dixon on the 10th. As for West Brunswick, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-47 loss against East Bladen on the 9th.
